Sutirman New Doctorate in Administrative Education Department, FE UNY, Produces Electronic Archives Management Learning Module

Archives are an important part of an organization in maintaining information resources. The development and activities of an organization will be maintained if the archives that are a source of information in the organization are also maintained properly. Administrative staff is one of the important organizational components in archive management. They are required to have certain competencies so that the organization's archive maintenance activities, both manual and electronic, can run well. Those are some of the arguments presented by Dr. Sutirman, M.Pd. in his dissertation which was successfully defended in front of the examiners at the Open Examination for Doctoral Program Doctoral Program in Technology and Vocational Education UNY, last Friday (10/3).

Conducting research in 29 Office Administration Skills Competency Vocational Schools (KKAP) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sutirman found that many Archives subject teachers have not taught electronic archive material to their students. One of the reasons is the absence of teaching materials for electronic records management materials. Books on electronic archive management are still very rare. Therefore, Sutirman conducts research and development to produce teaching materials that are integrated with experiential learning strategies.

The results of this development are in the form of an electronic archive teaching module that can be accessed through the managementarsip.com page, and can be accessed by anyone, whether teachers, students, or employees who want to learn about archive management. In addition to being validated by experts, this electronic module product was also tested on 24 archiving subject teachers and 120 KKAP SMK students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

Dr. Sutirman, M.Pd. defended his dissertation entitled "Development of Experiential Learning-Based E-Module for Electronic Archive Management Learning in Vocational High Schools" in front of the examiners consisting of Chair Prof. Soenarto, Ph.D., Dr. Sugiharsono as Secretary, Promoter Prof. Dr. Muhyadi, Co-Promoter Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D., Examiner 1 Dr. Priyanto, M. Kom., and Examiner 2 Prof. Adhi Susanto, Ph.D. Muhyadi hopes that this research can be useful for archiving teaching in SMK. “Especially, this research is expected to improve the image of archives in society. So far, archives are still underestimated in value. In fact, the performance of an institution or organization can be seen, one of which is how they maintain the archive,” he said. (fadhli)
