Wahyu, Alumni of P.ADP FE UNY Wins Competition for Indonesian Stock Exchange Meme

In the context of the "Let's Save Shares" campaign. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) invites Indonesians to participate in creative competitions through social media. The goal is to invite the public, especially the younger generation, to start investing in the capital market in a safe and profitable way. Through the "Yuk Nabung Saham" campaign, IDX held a Meme & Videogram Competition through social media Instagram and Twitter. IDX provides prizes in the form of shopping vouchers or cash and stock savings deposit funds as well as free customer account opening for winners who do not have a stock account. Winners are announced every two weeks for 3 months (6 periods) starting from 14 December 2015 to 13 March 2016.

Wahyu Rusdiyanto, Alumni of the Department of Administrative Education, Faculty of Economics, Yogyakarta State University (P.ADP FE UNY) as well as an outstanding teaching staff of the Office Administration Education Study Program FE UNY won two terms in the competition. Wahyu, won the meme competition and managed to get cash and shopping vouchers worth IDR 1,000,000 and a stock savings deposit of IDR 2,000,000. The prize handover was held on March 1, 2016 at the IDX Yogyakarta Representative Office.

Wahyu admitted that he started working on the stock market in 2014 while studying at the UNS Master of Management program. “Initially, he started the stock market when he was taking financial management courses. Because in lectures only theory is taught, I tried to practice because I was so curious, “he said.

“Two years in the market, I have experienced gains and losses. It's like we trade, there are times when we gain and lose, right? The follow-up of the losses we experienced actually demands that we be more careful and continue to learn because in the stock market we cannot rely on instinct to gamble,” Wahyu added.

By winning this competition, Wahyu hopes to convince the academic community of UNY not to hesitate in investing in the stock market. In addition, Wahyu also hopes that UNY will have an investment gallery and an active capital market study group like other campuses. (fadhli)
